Legal Assistant/Paralegal The candidate will be scheduling court appearances & depositions; Drafting of letters, email correspondence and pleadings; Creating and maintaining files and indexes; Maintaining attorneys calendars of appointments as well as reminders; Telephone correspondence with opposing counsel and court clerks; Preparing pleadings for filing with the court; Scanning documents to maintain electronic version of file; Preparing attorney-client contracts; Service of pleadings; Emailing and calling clients to obtain or provide information; Anticipating next steps relative to case and documents that need to be prepared
The candidate must have strong office skills & experience. Prior law firm experience is preferred. Must be motivated, organized, a quick learner, able to communicate effectively and professionally with sophisticated clients, and be willing to take direction from attorneys; Associate Arts Degree ( AA ) or Bachelor s Degree preferred; Independent resourcefulness and problem-solving capabilities. Should have strong organizational skills. Should have proficiency with drafting and editing correspondence; Strong communicator with professional and pleasant phone skills; Computer competency and knowledge of WordPerfect, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; Certified Paralegal and/or Notary Public is a plus.
