Litigation Paralegal The candidate will be assisting attorneys during the litigation process. Will be handling pre-claim investigations, drafting legal documents, maintaining indexes, and organizing case files. Will be well versed in both federal and state court procedure and filing requirements, to include e-filing in federal courts and state courts. Performing administrative duties, such as calendar hearings, court and discovery deadlines. Managing hard copy and electronic case documents, including managing email and electronic files and preparing binders of hard copy documents. Providing internet research including pulling cases from Lexis and Westlaw, along with conducting research and analyzing various law sources. Assisting with the general aspects of document productions (redacting, copying, Bates stamping); attorneys with the preparation of motions; preparation of pre and post-trial briefs. Cite-check, bluebook, and Shepardize briefs and legal memoranda. Drafting of routine court documents. Organizing, analyzing, and index documents and exhibits. Assisting with all aspects of deposition preparation; and preparing witness files and trial notebooks. Creating and maintaining trial exhibit and deposition designation databases; working files for attorneys and index files for long-term storage. Abilities to convey information to individuals at all levels within the firm in a courteous and professional manner; strong service orientation. Organizing and managing litigation cases from inception to trial and appeal including document productions, deposition preparation, and trial preparation. The candidate must have Bachelor's degree with ABA paralegal certification or Associates/Bachelor's degree in Paralegal studies. Must have 7 years of litigation paralegal experience. Trial experience is required. Must have experience in all areas of paralegal duties from the inception of the case to trial and appeal, including case management, general research utilizing Westlaw, case retrieval, blue booking, cite-checking, and proofreading pleadings. Must have knowledge and understanding of legal principles and practices; Microsoft Office Suite and litigation support applications such as Relativity. Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must have superior interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication and maintain a high level of work quality and customer service. Must have the ability to travel locally and nationwide as needed; handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion; apply understanding and knowledge of the litigation process from pretrial to post-trial; and work moderate to heavy overtime.
