Legal Assistant/Paralegal Duties : The candidate must answer telephone calls and schedule appointments with clients. Assist with initial client intake to obtain relevant case information. Develop, maintain and administer different systems, database, master dockets and calendars. Responsible for independently maintaining client files from inception to completion and interacting with clients. Function as a liaison between the attorney, the client, and the various governmental agencies such as: Immigration Court, the Department of State, and others courts. Draft motions, letters of correspondence to clients and legal memoranda for attorney review. Coordinate with client to assemble documentation, complete questionnaires and forms, build and review case status, etc. Prepare and file appropriate immigration forms regarding client matters before the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, Courts, etc.; Focus on client development: follow up with prospective clients, close and review contracts of prospective clients.
Requirements : The candidate should have 1 year of Paralegal or Law Firm experience and 1 year of Legal Assistant experience.The candidate must be Honest, reliable, dedicated, loyal, punctual, trustworthy and hard working person with ambition to grow professionally. Works well under pressure. Shall be Bilingual fluent to speak and write in English and Spanish. Ability to work independently, excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office, Internet, Google calendar, and Dropbox. Should have ability to prioritize, multi-task and achieve deadline goals in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and with a team. Strong organizational and attention to details skills. Able to follow specific directions and internal procedures. Team player with positive attitude and reliable. Experience in immigration and criminal matters is a BIG plus, but we will also consider a candidate with basic immigration and criminal knowledge. Must have a reliable car, and drivers license.
