Litigation Paralegal Case Manager DUTIES: Managing deadlines - From the start of a case all the way to the trial (and everything in between). Responsible for the firm s overall day-to-day operations, and ensure the delivery of legal services by supervising staff and identifying and developing business opportunities. You will also handle many responsibilities other than substantive legal work or assignments. Drafting and Filing Complaints, Pleadings, and Notices. Propounding / Responding to Written Discovery. Meet and Confer Letters re Discovery. Law and Motion (Motions and Oppositions). Drafting Mediation Briefs. Drafting Deposition Summaries. Calendaring Deadlines, Hearings, etc. Legal Research. Interview / setup appointments with prospective clients. Collect information, evidence and documentation. Assist clients with scheduling appointments. Maintain calendar for court dates, statutes of limitation, etc. Write demands. Qualifications: An associate or bachelor s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Law degree preferred. Prefer formal paralegal training and a four-year degree, a proven track record of excellent work is equally impressive. Must have 2+ years of litigation and trial experience and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Must be organized and familiar with all aspects of the litigation process such as court systems and their attendant rules, procedures, and protocols. Must demonstrate effective planning, problem-solving, analytical skills, exercise sound judgment, have the ability to prioritize workload and assignments, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Should be efficient, focused, hard-working, and composed. Fluency of basic litigation deadlines, calendaring procedures, and motion requirements will make stand out. Familiarity with Cal. Code of Civil Procedure as well as Local Rules. Strong organizational skills and team player Ability to multi-task, and handle changing priorities. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong technical skills in word processing and database management. Experience with Excel. Motion writing is a plus. Trial skills, while not required, is a big plus. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. Maintain company standards in appearance, attendance, manners and ethics.
