This firm is on the large side of the medium firms. Approximately 1:1 partner associate ratio keeps most of the lawyers here fairly busy in all of their full service practice areas, with a special emphasis on intellectual property and employment litigation. Decidely not a firm who cares to spend a lot of time discussing quality of life, how does this financial district firm boast the low attrition rate? Simply, the firm makes sure that the associates have the kind and type of work they want, with fairly competitive salaries. Don't bother looking for the partners to talk the talk about associate satisfaction, it's not their style. But virtually ignoring these issues has done well for the firm--and its associates.
Foreign Filing Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for providing support to the IP Foreign Filing Department, attorneys, clients, and foreign associates for all international and foreign patent filing activities throughout the life-cycle of the application. Will be responsible for the preparation and filing of Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) Applications and prosecution, including Chapter II Demands, National Phase Applications, and direct filed foreign applications. Will prepare formal documents, including Declarations, Powers of Attorney, Assignments, and other formal documents as required for the PCT and by foreign countries. Should have ability to read, analyze and interpret common reports and legal documents; write memoranda, letters, reports; and effectively present information, written and verbally, to all levels of individuals in the Firm, clients, foreign associates, USPTO personnel and foreign counterparts. 5 years IP foreign filing experience is required. Must have knowledge of PCT and foreign patent rules and procedures, including processes and procedures for interacting with clients and foreign law firms to advance foreign patent applications. Experience with CPI, IPDAS, and PCT Safe are highly preferred. A college degree or paralegal certificate is required.
