Paralegal Responsibilities: Reviewing and drafting routine legal documents: i.e. Notices of Appearance, Affidavits of Engagement, Pre-Plea Investigation reports, letters to the Court (federal), sealing motions, early termination of probation motions, etc. Conducting legal research. Filing legal documents via EDDS, NYSCEF, CM/ECF, etc. Interviewing clients over the phone and in person to gather valuable information for their defense. Creating and maintaining case files in the office's filing cabinets. Facilitating legal calls and legal visits between our clients and the attorneys. Organizing the body of motions, including exhibits and appendixes. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (already graduated). Experience as a legal secretary or assistant or paralegal is definitely a plus). Internships and/or previous jobs in the criminal justice field will be given additional consideration from the very start of the application process. Aspirations for a future career in law are definitely a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat. Strong writing skills (heavy emphasis on grammar). Strong research skills. Comfortable making phone calls to Courts and various government agencies. The ability to meet deadlines, whether "weak" or "strong," with punctuality.
