Specialist Paralegal Responsibilities: Performs at an advanced level of expertise in the ENR practice of law, with a focus on regulatory enforcement, compliance and litigation matters. Assists attorneys and clients with handling significant cases and complex work. Performs factual and legal research in administrative and litigation matters involving state and federal laws, including writing legal and other memoranda Provides support and service to attorneys and clients in the areas of chemical and pesticide regulation by international, federal and state agencies. Continually improve client service through diligent, thoughtful, and timely execution of service requests. Evaluate and improve existing and new operational procedures and services. Recommend ways to increase cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficient use of resources to management. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. Post-graduate education may substitute for some work experience. 7+ years of increasingly responsible, directly related experience during which knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to the position were demonstrated. Advanced knowledge of the federal Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and its international counterparts. Advanced knowledge of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). Advanced knowledge of California s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (Proposition 65). Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate information with tact and courtesy. Follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, lawyers and staff. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to produce quality written communications such as memos, spreadsheets, slides, and standard work documents. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines and daily requirements. Ability to represent the firm with honesty, integrity, and professionalism, consistently acting in an ethical manner. Demonstrated understanding of firm filing and case organization procedures. Ability to analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, apply critical and creative thinking to draw conclusions or develop solutions to complex problems. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines, and managing workload.
