Paralegal The candidate will conduct research on relevant laws, regulations and articles required. Organize and maintain documents in the physical file and in the firm's document Management software required. Gather, maintain current and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation required. Write reports to help attorneys prepare for trial. Obtain affidavits and other formal documents/statements that may be used as evidence in court. Assist lawyers during trials by handlings exhibits, taking notes or reviewing trial transcripts. File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents (after lawyer has reviewed and approved) with the court or opposing council. Reach out to clients, witnesses, lawyers and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, or depositions. 1 - 5 years of experience as a paralegal. Candidate with experience in General Litigation preferred. The candidate will assist and provide a wide range of legal support to the supervising attorney(s); therefore, they will enhance the attorney's effectiveness. These duties will include, but it is not limited to: maintaining files, conducting legal research, drafting documents, communicating with clients and other parties involve in the cases etc. This position requires knowledge of law offices common practices and the legal field. Must be able to document and present their legal research and any related information to their supervising attorney(s) in a timely manner. Need to be familiar with using computers for legal research and litigation support as well as support in any other facets of law. Will spend most of their time working closely with clients and other professionals and must be able to develop good relationships. Will be responsible for many cases at times. They must adapt to a fast paced environment with constant changing of deadlines. In addition, in order to be efficient the paralegal must contain excellent organizational skills. Should have good research and investigative skills to conduct legal research. Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently, with minimal supervision. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint required. E-filing knowledge in preparation to file all types of discovery requests, responses to opposing counsel, and motions required. Knowledge of legal documents and terminology required. Knowledge of billing required. Knowledge of investigating the facts of a case required.
