Nurse Paralegal Duties: Consult with attorneys on medical legal issues specific to each case. Assess/analyze alleged damages and injuries and alternative causation. Summarize medical records. Prepare chronologies and medical opinion report. Identify medical documents vital to case preparation Assist with discovery plan. Assists attorneys with medical evidence preparation and organization for hearing or trial. Prepares case analysis, identifies issues, omissions and discrepancies. Composes and type document production including case analysis memoranda for attorneys, outline and narrative summaries, and chronologies of medical records, correspondence, and reports. Compile deposition questions for cases including healthcare providers. Medical Literature searches. Decipher handwritten medical records. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor s Degree in Nursing highly preferred. 5+ years as registered nurse. 5+ years of law firm consultant/paralegal experience preferred. Proficient understanding and utilization of medical terminology, anatomical drawings, laboratory tests, and medications. Possess thorough understanding of medical condition to explain or illustrate a diagnosis. Proficient proofreading, redlining, and editing of documents. Must ensure accuracy, comprehension, and overall grammar and punctuation. Has full understanding of HIPAA compliance. Understands and complies with all other related regulatory mandates. Research, analytical, organizational and critical thinking skills required. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook and knowledge and application of legal research tools (Westlaw). Superior written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with court personnel, attorneys and their staff, clients, witnesses and outside vendors.
