Paralegal (Los Angeles) Duties: The candidate will organize pleadings, legal, subject, and issue files electronically. Create and maintain databases for the case and document management. Assist with preparation of exhibits for briefs. Cite-check and Shepardize briefs and legal memoranda. Organize, analyze, and index documents and exhibits. Trace documents and search records for relevant information. Prepare cast of characters and chronology of events. Coordinate in and out-of-town depositions. Organization of documents for use at depositions, and witness binders. Organize, summarize, and index deposition transcripts and exhibits. Organize and prepare witness files and trial notebooks. Create and maintain trial exhibit and deposition designation databases. Supervise the preparation of trial exhibits and demonstrative exhibits. Oversee logistical preparation. Assist in the preparation of motions in limine and other trial briefs. Attend and assist at trial. Collect and organize documents for use of examination and defense of witnesses. Identify and track exhibits offered and entered at trial. Create and maintain trial transcript and trial exhibit databases. Assist with preparation of post-trial briefs. Organize case files for use in appellate proceedings, if applicable. Supervise collection, indexing, and storage of case files and attorney working files. Model matter realization and profitability with scenario analysis to support pricing decisions by firm management. Research historical matters and prepare an analysis to inform and compare budget proposals and build on a database of budgets to enhance pricing accuracy. Design templates to assist attorneys with creating budgets, and monitoring engagements throughout the matter lifecycle, providing reports to management regularly. Support practice group leadership by creating reports identifying key financial metrics, and pricing trends and collaborating with other departments and client teams on ad hoc analysis. Document and maintain detailed records of procedures, assumptions, methodologies, and sources of information utilized in the analysis. Coordinate with business development partners to complete requests for proposals (RFPs) and meet deadlines. Collaborate with Finance & Accounting department staff and other administrative departments to ensure data consistency and provide accurate and timely reporting. Qualifications: The candidate should have Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required. Should have 5-10 years of litigation paralegal experience. Should have proficiency in Windows 10, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, Relativity, Lexis, and Westlaw are preferred. Organize and supervise document productions in conjunction with our Associate Director of Litigation Support. 2+ years of pricing experience in a law firm is strongly preferred. Strong business acumen and analytical skills and the ability to learn and apply new skills quickly and effectively. Knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles and terminology, with general knowledge of the legal services business. The prior law firm or financial experience is a plus. Must be well organized with strong attention to detail and good business judgment, capable of handling sensitive information with appropriate discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, is required. Advanced Excel proficiency, including experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc. is preferred. Experience with SharePoint, database management, data presentation software, Visual Basic, and SQL is a plus. Ability to connect report data and statistics with business outcomes for analysis and forecasting. Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrating an ability to explain complex concepts to professionals of different backgrounds with confidence. Ability to work independently and maintain flexibility with respect to assigned tasks due to changing deadlines and deliverables in a fast-paced environment. Must have a positive attitude and be results-oriented, dependable, adhere to established time commitments, and demonstrate strong customer service attributes. Clearly communicating analysis, financial metrics, and budget reports with lawyers to ensure the success of individual attorneys and the firm overall. Continually working to ensure quality and accuracy of work product. Contributing to the team to develop tools, processes, and procedures to maximize efficiency. Maintaining a positive, collaborative and professional attitude within the pricing team and as well as with other departments and lawyers.
