Paralegal - Pre-Litigation Duties: Initial client intake processing. Opening claims with insurance companies. Putting health insurance on notice (e.g., Medicare, CMS, Medicaid, ERISA, VA). Putting auto insurance/carriers on notice. Answering phone calls. Sorting and scanning mail. Locating and notifying entities regarding premises liability claims. Requesting medical records & bills from various providers, including but not limited to, medical providers, city, and county providers, Chartswap, CIOX, Healthport, etc. Requesting police reports, death certificates, PIP ledgers, ISO reports, Light sequence reports, 911 audio, EMS run reports, etc. Preparing insurance demand packets. Preparing closing statements. Obtaining outstanding lien verification and final closure letters from CMS, Medicaid, ERISA health plans, Veterans Administration, Etc. Filing and serving civil remedy notices. E-filing. Noticing hearings (UMC/Special Set Hearings). Scheduling depositions and mediation. Assisting in the discovery process, etc. Qualifications: 5-10 years of experience working as a pre-litigation paralegal or legal assistant is preferred. Proficiency in MS Office. Bilingual is an asset. Excellent attention to detail. Self-motivated.
