Paralegal The candidate will be performing legal research (using Westlaw and other legal research databases); drafting employee handbooks and policies; investigating facts and interviewing witnesses in employment discrimination cases; organizing, maintaining, and closing client files; communicating with clients to obtain documents and information needed to respond to discrimination charges; reviewing, indexing, and organizing documents; preparing responses and document production in response to subpoenas; and developing, organizing, and maintaining databases and files on various legal subjects. Must have excellent writing and communication skills, able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and work well in a team-based environment. A paralegal certificate is required, along 2 years of experience in an employment law setting, with experience in drafting employee handbooks and policies, and knowledge of discrimination, harassment and disability laws, familiarity with the EEOC and State Fair Employment Practice Agency (in particular the Missouri Commission on Human Rights and Illinois Department of Human Rights) discrimination charge process, the drafting of position statements, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook is also required.
