Family Law Paralegal Responsibilities: Prepare wide range of basic legal documents including pleadings, reports, correspondence, and forms in both draft and final form, using templates as provided. Draft discovery pleadings, including Inventories Appraisements; Collect and prepare documents for production; Review documents produced by Opposing Party; Prepare and maintain Discovery Inventories. Prepare attorneys for hearings, trials, conferences, mediations; Attend same when required. File court documents, including e-filing. Monitor case court dockets. Triage attorney emails. Meet with new clients; Provide new clients with information regarding case process, client documents needed. Monitor, prioritize, organize and facilitate daily workflow for attorney(s), self, Legal/Administrative Assistants. Manage calendars; Schedule appointments, hearings; Track deadlines and time-sensitive tasks. Schedule and prepare for mediations, coordinating with mediator, opposing counsel, client. Schedule and prepare conference calls, client meetings, settlement conferences, court hearings. Provide marketing support with potential new client intake. Update legal case/client electronic tracking database regarding their assigned cases; Capture client information; Oversee Legal/Administrative Assistants in their maintenance of same. Maintain the integrity of a case's file management systems regarding their assigned cases, including classifying, arranging, retrieving and storing information in both electronic and hard copy formats; Oversee Legal/Administrative Assistants in the setting up and maintenance of same. Be accessible to clients as needed throughout their case's progression. Notarize documents as needed. Qualifications: Knowledge of basic legal terminology, processes, documents, case flow. Is highly organized; able to multi-task proficiently. Shows strong interpersonal skills in working with clients, attorneys, court personnel, vendors, etc.; able to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, vendors, attorneys, paralegals, court personnel. Must be able to work under the direction of attorneys and management collaboratively, and be willing to contribute by performing any task needed. Shows professionalism at all times; positive and friendly attitude. Able to exercise high levels of discretion, confidentiality, sensitivity and integrity. Able to adhere to firm policies and procedures. Has at least 5 years experience in a law firm environment required; family law experience strongly preferred. Is proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat; must type at least 75 words/minute. Experience with Clio a plus.
