Litigation Assistant/Paralegal Duties: The candidate will work closely with the attorneys throughout every phase of the trial while organizing and maintain case files, helps manage caseload requirements, and monitor budgets, timelines, and billing for case completion. Assist attorneys with all aspects of case management, including docketing deadlines, billing, and providing reminders as necessary. Coordinate between attorneys, staff, and outside vendors to manage the law firm's caseload, present case summaries/updates, and ensure that deadlines are met. Organize and maintain all case files, and information concerning engagement. Conduct legal research to obtain documentation regarding health insurance, social security, medical records, and medical providers. Draft legal documents for attorney review. Review legal documents to ensure adherence to all legal requirements. Consult with attorneys and provide recommendations with regard to cost and time-effective ways to accomplish the client's goals. Communicate case status with clients and outside counsel as requested. Draft routine legal documents for review and use by attorneys. Compile and prepare draft discovery responses. Categorize and interpret data; review and analyze reports, responses and records produced by opposing counsel. Coordinate requests between multiple parties involved in litigation by way of consistent communication with client, claims and full partnership with an attorney through the end of the case. Set up all Medicare/Medicaid/Health Insurance subrogation and negotiate reductions. Summarize medical records in CaseMap and depositions in TextMap. Maintain effective and professional client communications. Interview clients, family members, and witnesses. Research defendants on Lexis Advanced and KY Secretary of State. Maintain all deadlines, including scheduling and calendaring for multiple attorneys. Set up probate matters. Answer phone calls regarding roll-over intakes, medical providers, collection agencies, and insurance adjusters. Qualifications: The candidate should preferably have an Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience. Must have 2+ years of litigation experience. Experience in Personal Injury, WC, Premises, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred. Case Management software experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance is also preferred. Bilingual English and Spanish a plus. Communication Proficiency/Interpersonal skills. Strong and Persuasive Written and Verbal Skills. Adaptability and attention to detail. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work effectively under time constraints and maintain accuracy and detail. Possess knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures, practices. Excellent client service skills (patient, empathetic, friendly) with experience in a legal environment. Ability to type 50 wpm. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
