Trauma-Focused Paralegal Duties: Conduct initial client interviews and legal needs assessments. Provide ongoing client support throughout the litigation (criminal and civil). Provide legal advocacy services for clients including, but not limited to advocating on behalf of clients with law enforcement and prosecutors. Draft correspondence, legal documents and court forms with supervision by project attorney. Build evidence-based case. Conduct analysis of client issues. Coordinate and conduct legal information clinics for clients. Develop educational and self-help materials for clients on relevant legal issues. Work with attorneys to coordinate legal services and ensure that clients legal needs are being met. Work with the Managing Attorney to incorporate trauma-informed care principles and practices in the provision of legal services to clients. Qualifications: 2+ years of paralegal-level experience with a Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate required. Strong communication (oral and written), research, and analytical skills. Familiarity with legal issues faced by sexual abuse survivors. Training in trauma-informed care and services. Familiarity with civil procedure in state and federal courts. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Prior experience working with sexual abuse survivors in a community-based setting preferred.
