Paralegal Assistant Responsibilities: Assist attorneys and paralegals in all aspects of the litigation and consulting process. Conduct fact-checking research. Organize and maintain electronic case files and discovery material. Review, code, and analyze documents in databases; compile data summaries; summarize depositions. Draft correspondence, declarations, and other legal documents. Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, and meetings. Track, retrieve, and/or compile appropriate laws, regulations, judicial decisions, related past cases, legal articles, and other materials as assigned. Use Internet, databases, and other public sources to research companies and analyze current industry developments. Research industry-specific and emerging market trends to assist attorneys in business development and marketing projects. Monitor and review periodicals, newspapers, trade press articles, websites, Congressional Records, etc., for developments in the environmental field. Draft, submit, and monitor responses to Freedom of Information Act Requests. Attend meetings and webinars as requested by attorneys, and prepare reports when requested. Assist with preparing PowerPoint presentations, including graphics. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Must have 1 year of legal internship or equivalent experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Strong proficiency in office computer programs such as Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and document management system software programs. Knowledge of legal principles and practices at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training or its equivalent. Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks under time constraints. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to retrieve and distribute print volumes, push and pull packages and books weighing up to 20 pounds, and retrieve objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high and replace same. Ability to work more than 37.5 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position, which may frequently require irregular hours. Paralegal certificate a plus.
