Associates are allowed to choose the practice areas and specific assignments that interest them, and they will be challenged with responsibility and client contact.
Legal Secretary - Intellectual Property Responsibilities: Support a minimum of three Intellectual Property attorneys with high volume global practices including intellectual property litigation, patent and trademark clearance and prosecution. Maintain complex patent and trademark prosecution and litigation dockets, including calculating and calendaring due dates for U.S. District Courts, Federal Circuit, and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filings. Schedule depositions and organize pleadings. Transcribe, type, proofread, finalize, and assist with the drafting, filing, or service of legal staff documents, correspondence, search opinions memos, reports, addresses as per firm policy or instructions from staff. Open new client files. Copy and or scan and store for retrieval large volume of documents, memos, reports, litigation pleadings and other materials as required. Answer phones, transfer calls, take messages, establish conference calls, and respond to email as necessary. Maintain and enter time charges into the billing system as required. Maintain professional interaction with external and internal clients by phone, email and in person. Update calendars, schedule meetings, make reservations for business travel and conferences. Monitor CLE credits for assigned attorneys. Other duties as assigned, including assisting any attorney or other individual within the practice group, office, or Firm as necessary. Qualifications: Must have high school diploma or equivalent. College experience is preferred. 5+ years of Intellectual Property experience, particularly patent and trademark. Patent, Trademark and/or Copyright Litigation, Post Grant and Inter Partes Review experience. Familiarity with U.S. District Court, Federal Circuit, and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office procedures and filing systems.. Exceptional technical skills required including expertise in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Professional, as well as reasonable knowledge of document storage and review applications such as iManage and eDiscovery platforms. Strong organization, communication and client service skills. Detail oriented, excellent grammar and verbal skills, and the ability to multitask. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage deadlines. Ability to work productively and cooperatively with other employees. Ability to produce high quality work under pressure and in fast-paced, changing environment.
