Paralegal Responsibilities: Draft, format, proof, finalize, and file pleadings, other legal documents, and correspondence. Gather facts, documents, and evidence to assist in the initiation and/or defense of legal actions and motion practice. Assist with discovery requests and responses. Manage cases from inception through settlement or trial. Assist with discovery requests and responses, conduct document searches, organize documents and coordinate document productions, including Bates stamping, redactions, production and privilege logs, and e-discovery. Maintain electronic case files. Interview witnesses and work with clients and representatives to gather and convey information. Prepare materials for court, mediation, arbitration, trial, and meetings. Prepare for trials, coordinate trial logistics, and attend trials (organize exhibits, witness materials, trial notebooks, and all supporting documents). Create templates for case documents that comply with court and agency rules. Prepare court records such as appendices, excerpts of record, clerk s papers designations, etc.. Schedule hearings, depositions, arbitrations, trials, and vendors (e.g. court reporters, experts, etc.). Communicate with clients, courts, arbitrators, mediators, administrative agencies, opposing counsel, legal couriers, experts, and other third parties and legal industry professionals. Work collaboratively with and delegate projects to support staff such as legal assistants and office clerks. Qualifications: Paralegal degree or certificate with 3+ years experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, or in the alternative 5 years of progressively responsible experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary. Understands complex legal concepts and terminology. In-depth knowledge of Federal, State, Appellate, and local court rules and procedures, and the skills to find and understand those in other jurisdictions. Knowledge of the various state and federal ECF e-filing systems, and the ability to learn e-filing systems in other jurisdictions. Ability to perform legal research using Westlaw. Ability to draft pleadings and discovery. Ability to work independently, with a team of administrative support, organize, and prioritize workload, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to perform under tight deadlines and maintain patience in high-pressure situations. Strong working knowledge of advanced functions of Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, and Excel), eCopy, and Adobe. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, verbal, and written communication skills. Must be able to mange highly confidential information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity.
