Senior Paralegal The candidate will work directly with attorneys to prepare for upcoming cases, get involved in fact-finding projects and be responsible for developing and maintaining an index system for all case files. Will provide legal support to litigation lawyers in a timely and efficient manner, have a clear understanding of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, the litigation deadlines and process. E-file pleadings in state and federal court. Draft pleadings, issue subpoenas, correspondence and memos to include affidavits and exhibit lists. Ability to draft answers to original petitions and complaints by investigating the allegations and formulate responses timely. Review discovery responses submitted by opposing counsel, gather documents to draft responses and objections and submit to attorney for final review. Assist the attorney in preparing for trial, trial proceedings by organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, scheduling experts and witnesses, and ensuring witnesses are ready when needed. Prepare, redact information and bates number all exhibits prior to trial. Prepare presentations for trial and mediations. Uupload all documents to trial software program if technology is used in trial and/or mediations. Assist the attorney in preparing for depositions, mediations, prepare subpoenas, prepare witness and exhibit lists. Maintain billable hours for an amount set by the Firm. Ensure all responses to all deadlines are timely met and reminders are sent to the attorney. Order, and summarize medical records and employment records and update medical charts. Investigate the facts of a case, organize documents and create chronologies of fact to assist the attorney in the discovery and trial process. Conduct social media research. Calendar all meetings, depositions, mediation notices, trial notices, meetings with clients, and hearing notices. Conduct client and witness interviews when necessary. Ensure court reporters have been reserved and scheduled by Legal Assistant. Conference with attorney and interview clients and witnesses when needed. Ensure all trial, deposition, mediation, working notebooks are created and given to the attorney one week before the event or at the attorneys timeframe requested. Follow through and ensure all communication with case parties and client are completed either by fax or e-mail. Ensure all files are updated before hearings, depositions, meetings and/or trial. Perform other duties as assigned. The candidate should preferably have Bachelor's Degree, Associates Degree. Paralegal Certification preferred.Litigation experience in the private legal industry preferred. Must Type 50 words per minute (wpm). Must have proficiency with personal computer; software applications such as Windows, PowerPoint, Excel; typical office equipment such as copier, scanner, fax, etc.
