Paralegal Responsibilities: Works collaboratively with assigned attorneys and support staff in preparing legal documentation and/or processing transactions. Regularly corresponds with clients by phone, email, and letters. Assists in the drafting and filing of legal documents including but not limited to discovery motions, summary judgment motions, appellate briefs, affidavits, memoranda, and letters. Investigates factual information to respond to litigation discovery requests or other information inquiries. Performs legal research and analysis, both manually and on computers; compiles, analyzes and summarizes data. Manages cases and files; organizes and maintains files. Performs factual and technical investigation and analysis of case issues. Assists in all phases of case preparation including discovery and trial. Prepares for and attends trials. Prepares jury instructions and trial binders, and coordinates trial exhibits. Monitors legal fees, budgets, and project status. Provides general logistical help and supports the maintenance of legal files. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or Certificate program in paralegal studies. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is considered. 2-3 years of experience working as a paralegal with a law firm or in-house legal department. 2-3 years of experience with federal civil litigation or California litigation and must be familiar with FRCP and CCP. Experience with mass tort litigation within an MDL or JCCP is preferred. Prior experience with Filevine and Lead Docket is a plus. Understanding and knowledge of legal procedures, rules of counsel, and local rules. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
