International Arbitration Paralegal Duties: Assist attorneys with the preparation of domestic and international arbitrations and related court proceedings. Assist with filing of demands for arbitration, pleadings, and submissions. Preparation of factual exhibits and legal authorities for filing with submissions. Organizing and maintaining records of documents, exhibits, legal authorities, and submissions filed or to be used in the arbitration. Preparation and dispatch of electronic and hard-copy submissions to Tribunal and opposing parties as needed. Familiarity with key arbitral institutions such as the AAA-ICDR, ICC, ICSID. Conduct background research of relevant third parties involved in the proceedings, such as corporate entities, mediators, arbitrators, or judges. Experience coordinating trial/arbitration logistics, including negotiating for work space, setting-up remote office space, and coordinating with vendors. The appropriate handling of documents in accordance to settlement agreements. Composing and drafting routine cover letters. Maintaining calendars and docketing dates. Coordinating large-scale document productions and other paralegal duties Proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors. Create, compose, format, and edit written materials. Qualifications: BS/BA from an accredited college or university and paralegal certificate preferred. 5+ years of experience as a paralegal with strong interest in the legal profession. Superior working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Flexibility for overtime when needed. Proficiency in a second language (i.e.: Spanish, French, Arabic) is helpful. Exercise good judgment and follow through on assigned tasks. The ideal candidate will enjoy being a team player as well as working independently. Exhibit a positive, helpful attitude and the ability to maintain confidential information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communications that are clear and concise, use proper grammar and appropriate vocabulary. Ability to maintain stable performance under pressure with continually changing priorities; ability to integrate special assignments or projects into workflow. Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Excellent judgment demonstrated by the ability to make appropriate decisions in high pressure situations. Client and business focus: Responds positively to internal and external client demands. Problem solving: Analyses information to fully understand the key issues and solutions. Adaptability and flexibility: Proactively communicates a positive message to others during times of change. Experience with all stages of litigation and arbitration procedures, including intake, discovery, and hearing. Experience developing and maintaining processes to collect, store, and maintain paper and electronic case files. Experience using e-discovery databases (e.g. Concordance, Relativity). Experience using litigation support software for managing files and transcripts preferred. (e.g. LiveNote, CaseMap). Proficiency using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Adobe Acrobat in a legal setting. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
