Briefing Paralegal Duties: Work as a writing paralegal to help clients secure their disability insurance claims. Would appeal/brief rebuttal arguments to insurance companies administrative disability benefits denials using claims files, medical records, medical and vocational expert opinions, legal research, state and federal laws/regulations, as well as various other sources. Would work with the case managers/paralegals/attorneys in putting together comprehensive and persuasive appeals that effectively help to overturn adverse benefit determinations and help to prepare the files for litigation readiness and completeness. Would also submit the written appeals and gathered exhibits to the carrier within strict deadlines. Timely submitting necessary paperwork to insurance company. Big picture thinker to overcome insurance company denials using a variety of resources, arguments, and angles. Responding to email, mail, and phone communication. Submit appeal briefs and records to attorney for approval prior to submission. Working together with other department members and office to serve clients. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or Associates degree with related experience. Paralegal Certification, with references. Proficient use of legal research tools, i.e. Lexis Nexis/WestLaw. Writing sample available. Preferred work experience in a related occupation. Ability to self-start and time manage. Organizational and time-management skills required. Must be computer proficient in typing and various software programs. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work well with others as an effective team builder and team player. Ability to take initiative, set priorities, multitask, and organize work. Excellent and extensive brief writing ability. Ability to reassure and communicate effectively with clients to get information needed for appeal. Must have the ability to write several appeals a month, work comfortably within a 10-person team to manage the claim and appeal to be submitted. Must be able to conduct effective and efficient legal research for the appeals and firms A?attorneys and be able to comprehensively interpret and summarize medical records. Must be organized, pay close attention to detail, possess the ability to review and persuasively appeal claims using information from a wide variety of sources and able to communicate effectively. Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Be able to comfortably and empathetically communicate with clients. Maintain periodic contact with client about the nature and status of their claims and corresponding appeals. Effective and Efficient writer and case law researcher. Be able to read, interpret, and brief arguments using extensive medical records.
