Lead Trial Litigation Paralegal at Law Firm Law Firm is in need of an experienced litigation paralegal to work closely with attorneys and assist with the management of complex litigation cases. The job responsibilities and requirements include: Responsibilities: * Electronically file simple and complex pleadings in Federal and State Courts * Preparation of Summonses and Civil Cover Sheets for initialing action in Federal Court; preparation of Summonses for initiating action in State Court * Familiarity of litigation support software and its use (e.g. Eclipse, Relativity) including review and coding of documents relating to discovery request and a basic understanding of privilege documents * Basic understanding of Appellate brief rules, formatting and preparation of citations to the record on appeal for appellate briefs * Knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Kentucky Rules of Civil procedure that apply to specific paralegal functions * Assist with drafting and editing pleadings, includes reviewing and answering complaints, counterclaims and third-party complaints, motions to dismiss or strike jurisdictional motions and research for pleadings * Maintains positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff observing confidentiality of client matters * Draft for filing simple pleadings in State and Federal Court including: notices of deposition, notices of filing, pro hac vice motions, affidavits in support and basic orders * Training/assisting other paralegals * Must be able to travel to each trial to attend/help/prepare during the trial Requirements: * Organized and able to manage and prioritize a variety of litigation matters * Technologically savvy with a high proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel; has the ability and willingness to learn new technology and processes * People-oriented: enjoys interacting and communicating with a wide range of colleagues from across the firm and with clients from time to time * Achievement-oriented: enjoys taking on challenges while being proactive * Capable: shows initiative and can be trusted to perform assigned tasks and duties * Maintain willingness and mentality to get work completed when needed while working collaboratively and cooperatively with others * Adaptable and flexible: enjoys work that requires frequent shifts in direction Education: * Work AND Trial experience * Training in a law office setting Job Type: Full-time. Non-exempt. Normal work week 40-45 hours. Work additional or irregular hours to perform essential duties as required.
