Paralegal I, Restructuring Duties: Assists Attorneys representing debtors, creditors, and creditor committees in large chapter 11 bankruptcies and in business reorganizations and restructuring. Will include: Assist in analyzing large amounts of due diligence materials regarding all aspects of a company s business operations. Assist with the preparation and filing of First Day Pleadings, Electronic Court Filings; draft administrative first-day pleadings; cite check and research or update precedent in first and second-day pleadings filed; research the local rules; identify if there are any changes that will affect the filings and send a detailed e-mail to the attorneys indicating such amendments; coordinate with the client s financial advisors and the client to obtain and analyze certain due diligence material in preparation of major charts and notices to be included as part of the filing material. Correspond with clients, creditors and other interested parties regarding status of cases and other issues. Collate information and exhibits for motions, applications, notices, memoranda, proofs of claim and orders to the court. Assist with the preparation of fee statements and applications; maintain professional fee spreadsheets; analyze dockets, pleadings and monthly invoices and prepare detailed memorandum to the client summarizing the data. Proofread documents and exhibits, charts and diagrams. Maintain calendar. Work closely with other practice groups and offices on matters related to restructuring / reorganizations. Provide training to new paralegals and junior paralegals. The candidate must have 5+ years' experience as a Restructuring/Bankruptcy Paralegal in a mid to large size law firm or corporation, demonstrating a significant level of substantive knowledge and understanding of their practice area. Must display good judgment and handle any challenge with maturity and leadership while anticipating issues that may arise and offering well thought out suggestions and solutions. Must have excellent analytical and organizational abilities, creativity and initiative. Must maintain high work quality while under pressure of deadlines and competing priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with staff, attorneys, clients, courts, and vendors are essential. Must have demonstrated working knowledge of technology applicable to practice area, including Westlaw and Live Edgar; knowledge of Best Case Solutions and Sharepoint is a plus. Additional technical skills required include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and a Document Management System; knowledge of Carpe Diem and Westlaw is a plus. A college degree is required; equivalent work experience is considered.
