Employment and Civil Defense Litigation Attorney, Part-time Responsibilities: Independently manage litigation caseload working cases from beginning to end. Drafting Answers, Motions, Briefs, and other pleadings. Drafting and responding to written discovery. Researching and analyzing the law on complex issues. Conducting fact investigations including witness interviews and site inspections. Taking and defending depositions. Appearing for and handling all court hearings on assigned matters. Negotiating with opposing parties including direct negotiations, settlement conferences and mediations. Trial work. Responsible for client communications and preparation of complete, accurate and informative case evaluations regarding liability, damages, and recommended course of action. Appearing in a court of law, arbitration, or other judicial tribunal on behalf of the firm's client. Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school. Must be admitted to practice in Wisconsin. Beneficial if also admitted to practice in Illinois, Iowa and/or Indiana. Active member of the Wisconsin State Bar preferred. Strong litigation experience. Outstanding organizational skills, high attention-to-detail and accuracy and advanced document editing skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong legal research skills, ability to gather facts and identify possible actions for litigation. Adjusts quickly to multiple priorities and short timeframes as necessitated by client and court deadlines. Performs tasks with a high degree of self-motivation and creative thinking. Team player with the ability to work well with others. Must be available to attend in person client meetings, court hearings, depositions and trials scheduled throughout Wisconsin.
