Legal Secretary (Family Law) The candidate responsibilities include: Significant client contact in person, by telephone and by e-mail; Intake of new clients, preparing engagement letters and handling retainers; Scheduling consultations, appointments, depositions, etc.; Maintaining and updating attorney calendars; Routine telephone calls with clients, opposing counsel, court clerks, court reporters, etc.; Opening and scanning mail; Preparing pleadings for court filing and service, including Bates stamping of exhibits; Preparing exhibit binders and hearing/trial binders for attorneys; Sufficient knowledge of family law pleadings required for dissolution, paternity and restraining orders; Knowledge of family law rules of court and local rules and procedures for filing and lodging documents as well as filing deadlines; Draft client correspondence and various pleadings; Perform administrative support functions, such as scanning documents, e-mailing documents to clients, maintaining client files, meeting with clients, etc. A Bachelor's Degree or a Paralegal Certificate preferred. Should have 3 years of family law experience. Working knowledge of Forms Work Flow is needed. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word.
