Case Assistant / Tier I Paralegal Duties: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures provides legal/general support to the firm's attorneys and their clients. Observes confidentiality of client and firm matters. Work closely with associates and partners on all aspects of their practice as part of a close-knit team, and based upon demonstrated ability, will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibilities and increasingly advanced tasks as they grow into the position.
Requirements: College degree required; a paralegal certification is also required for a Tier I paralegal title/position. 1-2 years of law or financial business office experience a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels. Ability to organize and prioritize issues and workload. The ability to work on projects independently or with little supervision. Flexibility and ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities. Exercising independent judgment and initiative. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage various projects and assignments; Ability to assist attorneys and/or paralegals in preparing correspondence, documents and other legal materials; Good communication skills; Ability to work and learn independently and meet deadlines; Ability to interact well with attorneys, staff and clients; Ability to review and summarize factual information and documents; Ability to be a proactive team member; Familiarity with basic legal processes and terminology a plus; Ability to learn to assist with preparation for an attendance at trials and court hearings; and Excellent writing and proofreading skills. Must be familiar with and observe the firm's established policies and guidelines. Must maintain positive contact with attorneys (both the firm's and outside counsel), support staff, clients and vendors.
