Maintains deposition transcripts and errata sheets in organized fashion. Assists with the preparation and filing of briefs, appeals and other legal documents: compiles appendices and exhibits, proofreads and cite checks for factual data, prepares table of authorities, files documents with court (hard copy and electronic). Prepares for and attends trial: organizes, prepares and tracks exhibits; assists with the preparation of attorney work product; prepares deposition designations; compiles exhibits related to direct and cross examination outlines; assists with the set-up of trial site logistics and other trial related projects as assigned. Implements and manages organizational systems to maintain case calendar, pleadings, correspondence and related case documents utilizing Firm software. This process may involve utilizing additional software applications to assist in the compilation of tables of content and tables of authority. Prepares documents to include: privilege logs, binders, correspondence, reports to clients, document indices, abstracts, spreadsheets, and chronology of facts. Responsible for overseeing other Paralegals, Project Assistants, legal secretaries, and/or temporary help, as needed. Monitors details and quality of others work. Interacts with outside entities (clients, government agencies, expert witnesses, consultants, other law firms, opposing parties, court personnel, etc. ), manages relationships with supporting vendors (e-discovery, court reporters, trial support, etc. ) and communicates findings to attorneys. Record billable and non-billable activities on a daily basis. Paralegals and Project Assistants are required to record 1600 client billable hours per calendar year, in accordance with Firm policy. Experience with PACER and federal/state court dockets/procedures. Ability to manage multiple cases/deadlines in a fast-paced environment and ability to work independently. Maintains solid working relationships with peers, support staff, attorneys, clients, etc. Other projects and duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree required. 5+ years of experience as a paralegal required. Must be able to demonstrate and meet the requirements of California Business & Professions Code Section 6450 et. seq. Experience in a large law firm setting preferred. Knowledge and understanding of legal principles and practices. Ability to work independently or as a team. Assumes responsibility for self and team. Anticipates needs, acts independently and asks questions or supervisors as needed. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion. Strong organizational, problem solving, and time management skills. Coordinate with Litigation Support Services department management, office management, and Human Resources for the recruitment of paralegals in CA; and ensure effective orientation and on-boarding. Provide continuing education for paralegals by creating, coordinating, and presenting in-house training programs, as well as identifying ad hoc training opportunities on projects. Maintain administrative records, such as attendance and PTO. Participate in annual evaluation process, as well as provide regular feedback and constructive criticism. Resolve personnel problems, up to and including drafting written recommendations for disciplinary action and termination. Interact with outside entities (e.g. government agencies, expert witnesses, corporations, vendors and other law firms) to gather information and coordinate activities as needed. ?
