Paralegal Duties: Under the general direction of supervising attorney(s) and according to established Firm policies and procedures, is responsible for providing paralegal support and assistance to attorneys in the coordination, management, and supervision of all aspects of real estate transactions including, UCC searches/preparation, review/analysis of property titles, surveys and documents of record, review/abstract leases, coordination of all aspects of real estate closings and preparation of initial drafts of transaction documents, closing files and closing books. Maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and Firm matters. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position. Client billable hour requirement: 1,700 hours annually (142 client billable hours average per month). Draft programmatic transaction documents, closing checklists, prepare closing books and prepare/assemble documents under the supervision of the supervising attorney. Coordinate and assist with documentation for closing and post-closing requirements. Perform lien (including UCC) searches and prepare lien summaries. Prepare and review UCC Financing Statements, releases, assignments and transfers of assets. Perform due diligence and assist with document preparation for bond and loan originations, including loan file review. Review Zoning Reports. Review/analyze real estate titles, surveys, and documents of record. Review subordinate loan documents and regulatory agreements and prepare lease abstracts. Organize and maintain transactional files. Maintain up-to-date time reports to ensure accurate client billing. Coordinate contact with various third party vendors to comply with client's requirements. May supervise work performed by Legal Assistant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firms policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, and providing input into the performance appraisal process. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 2+ years' progressive work experience in the real estate or other transactional area preferably in a law firm environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Legal research knowledge and ability to use law library are required. Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited paralegal program a plus. Computer proficient with experience and working knowledge of Westlaw and other real estate-related databases, Internet research, due diligence, Excel, Outlook, and MS Word preferred. Applicable knowledge and experience in title, survey and document of record review/analysis, UCC searches and preparation, and lease review, preparation and abstracting. Exhibit high degree of initiative with excellent analytical, technical, and critical-thinking skills requiring an aptitude for detail, precision, and logic in order to analyze and research real estate transactional data, process information, conduct legal research, and perform essential duties. Excellent organizational skills including record keeping, data collection, and system information. Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish concise, detailed information in report format, written correspondence, e A A?mail, or verbally. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, and outside contacts. Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Ability to act independently and make decisions within scope of the positions responsibilities. Ability to organize, prioritize, and oversee numerous tasks from inception to completion, and ensure work is completed within strict deadlines. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment, and adapt to changes in workflow. Proactive with excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow-through skills. Excellent knowledge of reading, writing, grammar, spelling, punctuation, proofreading, and formatting in order to interpret source data, prepare real estate transactional documents and forms, proofread material for grammatical, typographical, and spelling errors, and perform file organization and maintenance. Ability to work closely with vendors to fulfill transactional and client requirements. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply mathematical concepts when computing, reconciling balances, prorations and verifying numerical data on forms and documents. Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer, laser printer, telephone, photocopier, calculator, scanner, facsimile, etc.
