Legal Assistant/Paralegal Responsibilities: litigation work, including drafting a variety of pleadings such as motions and non-standard affidavits. Attorney Support prepare litigation budgets as well as work with clients in providing case statuses as to litigation. Responsible for the entire hearing process. Works with the attorney to ensure their hearing schedule is maintained, secures local counsel when needed and completes any hearing preparation needed prior to the hearing date. Coordinate with clients to advise them of dates and arrange attendance when necessary. Responsible for obtaining hearing results and coordinating any needed continuations or cancelations for hearings. Handle a wide variety of non-standard tasks. Ad hoc work may require research, drafting, and communication with attorneys and clients. Assists attorneys in managing their portfolio including any administrative duties needed by the attorney or other tasks assigned by management. Tasks may include billing, calendaring, client system updates or any additional duties as assigned. Responsible for extensive communication with all parties involved in the case. This position communicates internally with operations departments as well as externally with courts, counsel, clients and defendants. Qualifications: Bachelor degree required and paralegal certificate strongly preferred. Notary certification is a plus. 1+ year experience in the legal field preferred, but not required. Self-starter, able to work independently to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment. Strong organizational skills. Detail oriented and able to handle time-sensitive and complex issues. Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal skills. Excellent time management and prioritization skills to work with internal and external deadlines. Should have an interest in a legal intensive role. Must have a demonstrated attention to detail, be well organized and possess excellent communication skills. Requires investigative skills, problem solving and troubleshooting to resolve case problems as well as meet operational needs. Attorney Support members work and think independently. This position carries a high level of responsibility to the clients. A demonstrated understanding of liability implications towards the firm is needed. Should be a motivated self-starter who is able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Possess excellent communication skills, have a demonstrated attention to detail and be well organized. Must be a team player willing help members of the team and enjoys volunteering for projects. Ability to handle time-sensitive and complex issues with superior time management and prioritization skills. Requires investigative skills, problem solving and troubleshooting to resolve case problems as well as meet operations needs.
