We do not need to tell you that as a very successful Arizona firm the people here do appear to work very hard and we hate to say it but we will: Many are working New York type hours. The firm also has been criticized in many respects for its lack of diversity; however, we do not believe that this is a serious problem because the firm's recent hires have all been very diverse in our opinion. The firm also receives very high scores for the treatment of associates by partners and there does appear to be a very good relationship here between associates and partners with associates feeling they are part of the mix to a great degree and respected by partners. Most associates at this firm would much rather stay with the firm than switch firms. In our book this is a good sign.
Paralegal Assistant Duties: Update and organize client records (physical and electronic); Draft simple reporting correspondence to client and forward to paralegals for review; Draft simple U.S. patent prosecution documents for paralegal or attorney review and comments; Perform computer database input and retrieval. Begin training on USPTO rules and procedures as they relate to patent prosecution; Organize documents or reports for in-house and/or outside distribution; Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines; and Conduct on-line searches for U.S. and international patents and publications. Qualifications: A high school diploma and 1+ year of related experience in an administrative support role, or equivalent. AA or BA degree preferred. Paralegal Certificate a plus. Paralegal Assistant or legal support experience strongly preferred. Practice group-specific experience preferred. Strong attention-to-detail and organizational skills for prioritizing workload. Ability to interact with all levels of firm personnel with professionalism and tact. Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple assignments. Ability to apply good judgment and discretion to a variety of situations. Strong communication skills and the ability to express yourself effectively, both orally and in writing. Proficiency in MS Office applications (including WORD, Outlook, and Excel). Solid internet research skills. Ability to type 50 wpm with accuracy.
