Paralegal / Legal Assistant - Transaction Specialist Duties: Manage multiple ongoing transactions at any given time. Accurately prepare and review closing documents. Review transaction file for issues and deficiencies and facilitate resolution. Communicate with client or its counsel regarding transaction diligence requirements. Develop relationships with key clients, brokers, escrow agents, government officials. Identify, develop and implement process efficiencies in the transaction process. Ability to run closings from start to finish and have knowledge of title insurance commitment and surveys for commercial real estate closings. Reviewing title and survey materials, preparing title survey objections letter and coordinating with title companies in resolving title objections. Ordering third-party services and coordinate with service providers to real estate transactions, related to surveys, zoning reports, environmental site assessments, property condition reports, permit reports, and appraisals. Assisting with the preparation of due diligence items. Reviewing due diligence checklists and closing documents. Researching UCC filings and corporate documents. Preparing closing document packages for clients. Preparing/drafting closing document transcripts for all parties. Preparing/drafting recordable documents for filing. Conducting general internet research. Completing general post-closing items. Assist with formation and registration of entities, acquisition of federal employment identification numbers and related tasks. Under the supervision of an attorney, drafting, editing, cite-checking and otherwise assisting in the preparation of loan, purchase, sale, loan servicing and ancillary documents. Overall support to the real estate and transactions group. Requirements: Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program, or equivalent work experience.. 5+ years of relevant work experience as paralegal or in document preparation, contract reviewing and/or transaction due diligence.. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and aptitude for quickly learning various other programs. Ability to use independent judgment to problem solve and find solutions to transactional issues. Ability to be flexible and adaptable, coupled with a willingness to do what it takes and wear many hats. Detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills. Ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously. Willingness to work both independently and as a part of a team in a deadline-driven environment.
