Paralegal - Insurance Coverage Duties: Performs all duties connected with maintaining an individual caseload in support of the practice group as a whole, and multiple attorneys. Assisting attorneys in all phases of discovery and motions practice; Performing electronic filing; Preparing site summaries; Creating insurance policy abstracts and coverage charts; Assisting with preparation of deposition notices; preparing witness files; scheduling and adjourning depositions; Citing checks and shepardizes; Assisting with creation of organizational databases in order to maintain large document collections; attending/performing document reviews and preparing document productions; Performing legal research; compiling, analyzing, and presenting findings; obtaining information/documents from various courts, government agencies, libraries, and other outside resources; Drafting standard procedural pleadings; maintaining correspondence and pleadings files. Indexing and summarizing documents and depositions; Assisting with trial preparation; maintaining case calendars, case files, and trial/case notebooks; Setting up and organizing initial documents received for new cases; indexing records; preparing summaries of same; preparing chronologies of events; Preparing and coordinating service of subpoenas; Performing research on expert witnesses; utilizing defense database services; Assisting attorneys with preparation of, and answers to, interrogatories; Travel as required for document reviews and productions; Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: BA/BS degree; Paralegal Certificate is strongly preferred. 5+ years of Paralegal experience is required, with 3+ years recent litigation experience. Intermediate to advanced technical skills using Microsoft Office Suite is required; a working knowledge of Interaction, Adobe, Concordance, Access, iManage FileSite, and e-filing protocols are strongly preferred. Prior database experience and Internet research skills are required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential in order to interact with staff, paralegals, attorneys, and clients on a regular basis. Must possess excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention-to-detail in order to manage volumes of documents, binders, letters, charts, etc. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines is required. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, will show meticulous attention to detail, and will possess the ability to multi-task efficiently in order to manage multiple deadlines.
