Associates are allowed to choose the practice areas and specific assignments that interest them, and they will be challenged with responsibility and client contact.
Legal Secretary - Intellectual Property Responsibilities: Support a senior partner in the intellectual Properties group preparing and filing US and foreign patent applications, responses and office actions with the USPTO. Prepare Information Disclosure Statements and Assignments/Declarations. Check status of patent and trademark files through PAIR/TARR. Create status reports for patent and trademark portfolios. Conduct trademark searches, initial document preparation of substantive US and foreign trademark submissions. Communicate with patent authorities, foreign agents and clients. Analyze patent authority communications to identify action required. Manage with minimal supervision, validate and enter data/docketing information. Work on additional projects assigned. Qualifications: 5+ years of experience or background working in a legal or business/corporate environment performing IP tasks as described above. Associates or Bachelor's degree in an applicable field is a plus. Experience recording and billing time in a law firm is a plus. Exceptional technical skills required including knowledge of MS Office Suite and the UPSTO online filing system. Strong organization, communication and client service skills. Ability to work independently, multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment are essential. Must be detail oriented and possess excellent grammar and speaking skills.
