Workers Compensation Claimants Paralegal The candidate will be reviewing medical evidence and medical records; talking to medical providers. Will be preparing for depositions of the claimant, physicians, medical experts and other parties; Preparing discovery; Performing legal research. Will be thoroughly understanding WC law in VA and knowledge of the Commission processes. Will be assisting attorneys in drafting pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions and other legal documents. Will be helping attorneys to prepare for litigating cases before a workers compensation judge. Will be answering client questions and guiding them through the process; Completing paperwork relating to the claim. Will be providing support and encouragement to the claimant The candidate should have 10 years of VA WC specific experience. Should have thorough knowledge of Virginia WC procedures. Should have excellent oral and written communication skills. Should have good research and analytical skills (Lexus). Should have ability to handle large caseloads and juggle multiple priorities and deadlines. Should have ability to work independently and in a team; Computer proficiency; General understanding of medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering and similar issues inherent in workers compensation cases; Compassion and understanding of injured worker s plight; Associates degree or higher preferred. Spanish a plus but not required.
