Research Paralegal Duties: Use LEXIS, Westlaw or other relevant research platforms to perform in-depth and complex case, statute, company and business research with the ability to acquire, organize and disseminate information using the latest technologies in the most cost effective and timely manner. Research, analyze and summarize law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treatises, constitutions, legal codes and law-related information relevant to practice area. Organize documents and files related to legal matters, including documents received from the client, opposing parties or other sources. Prepare chronologies from deposition testimony, documents and other factual records and prepare timelines from settlement documents. Stay abreast of new and developing trends in research and technology. Demonstrate good teamwork skills within and among practice groups, offices and firm to facilitate efficient delivery of legal services. Use initiative and discretion in accomplishing routine assignments with minimum supervision. Direct and coordinate activities of law office support personnel for special projects. Related Requirements: Bachelor's Degree Required, JD Degree and/or ABA accredited Paralegal Certificate preferred. 3+ years of experience conducting research in a legal setting, preferably in a law firm environment. Knowledge of Cheetah, Lexis & Westlaw platforms, Local California Courts, PACER, SharePoint, Knowledge Management, internet and knowledge of EOS ILS desirable. Knowledge of relevant firm computer programs (e.g. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new applications. Proficient in the use of online and print resources. Ability to effectively present information to senior level attorneys, top management, clients and peers groups. Must be flexible and able to effectively: manage multiple priorities, tasks and make judgment decisions. The ability to grasp and apply new ideas and adapt to changing work situations.
