We do not need to tell you that as a very successful Arizona firm the people here do appear to work very hard and we hate to say it but we will: Many are working New York type hours. The firm also has been criticized in many respects for its lack of diversity; however, we do not believe that this is a serious problem because the firm's recent hires have all been very diverse in our opinion. The firm also receives very high scores for the treatment of associates by partners and there does appear to be a very good relationship here between associates and partners with associates feeling they are part of the mix to a great degree and respected by partners. Most associates at this firm would much rather stay with the firm than switch firms. In our book this is a good sign.
Paralegal Duties: Assist labor lawyers with all phases of case support including document/ information management (including ESI), factual analysis, discovery, and trial support. Maintain positive contact with clients and observe confidentiality of client matters. Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, and other documents and attorney notebooks. Summarize articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions. Conduct factual research and analysis. Keep accurate time records. Prepare exhibits for filings and assist with legal and factual cite checks of motions, briefs and other pleadings. Prepare case/matter notebooks. Perform factual and legal research. Coordinate and attend client conferences, document productions, and depositions. Prepare material for in-house and outside distribution. Draft and revise legal documents and correspondence. Coordinate service of process and/or filings with public entities. Obtain factual information from clients and third parties, including governmental agencies such as the EEOC and Texas Workforce Commission. Work with internal eDiscovery teams to facilitate collection and production of client documents and data. Track case/matter deadlines. Maintain departmental form files and systems. Perform computer database input and retrieval. Qualifications: Paralegal Certificate preferred. Requires 4-year degree and 5+ years paralegal experience. Proven skills in managing and coordinating workload for litigation support team. Strong computer skills and experience with e -discovery and automated litigation support software Relativity, Trial Director, PACER and LiveNote required. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of civil litigation and the ability to take initiative and to exercise discretion and independent judgment. Strong knowledge of Westlaw; public records requests; FOIA requests; FileSite; Microsoft applications; Adobe Acrobat Pro; local, state, and federal court rules; and citation style according to The Bluebook. Thorough knowledge of all phases of litigation, discovery, and trial procedures, particularly with respect to Texas state and federalvan court procedures and local rules. Demonstrated skills in document/information management and familiarity with Relativity and other similar databases. Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with Firm lawyers and staff, client personnel, and other professionals. Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Sound knowledge of library operations and records storage procedures. Ability to handle multiple tasks, multiple concurrent deadlines, work well under pressure and independently.
