Paralegal Duties: Request driving records and medical and billing records by affidavit; Lien searches using county databases; Prepare litigation settlement demand letters and packages for attorney/supervisor s review; Coordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, expert witnesses, site inspections, mediations, and meetings; Maintain firm-calendar, docketing all hearings, depositions, mediations, trial dates, meetings, deadlines and docket control orders; Create deposition, mediation, and trial notebooks; Draft and/or e-file variety of correspondence, notices, motions, original petitions, citations, discovery requests/responses, along with subpoena, review and summary of medical records and other pleadings; Ensure that service is obtained on Defendant; Propounding, objections and answering written discovery; Prepare for and attend trial through organizing exhibits, summarizing deposition testimony, providing page/line excerpts and other pretrial documents for the court while maintaining ongoing communication with witnesses (expert and fact) during trial; Conduct asset/background legal research using various programs and/or databases to obtain information on criminal and civil backgrounds, in addition to title, lien and deed research; Handle friendly suits, coordinating with ad litem, defense, and client; Maintain client contact and tangible files; Control legal expenses to ensure that all monies are counted for upon settlement; Periodic file review with attorney/supervisor; Bilingual translation, written and verbal. Qualifications: Personal injury paralegal experienced in Plaintiff s litigation. must have 1+ years' experience working on car accident liability docket. Should be knowledgeable in Texas personal injury issues such as; liability, insurance coverage, liens, paid versus incurred A?, subrogation, etc. Knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and understanding of the litigation process. Exceptional communication and organizational skills. Excellent bilingual verbal and written skills are a must.
