Litigation Paralegal The candidate will participate in case development in a variety of ways, including contact with clients, medical offices, attorneys inside and outside the firm, court personnel and expert consultants. Ensure that the firms resources are used efficiently and economically. Main responsibilities: Creation and Development of Case Files for Litigation - gathering and organizing, according to firm protocol, materials including medical records and client input. General Litigation Assistance - support in all aspects of litigation from beginning to end, as detailed below. Other responsibilities: Obtaining and processing medical records and bills according to firm protocol. Managing extensive case files (electronic and hard copy) according to firm protocol, ensuring consistent organization of medical records, pleadings, correspondence, emails, faxes. Drafting and filing letters and court correspondence. Drafting pleadings, discovery, and discovery responses. Creation of PowerPoint presentations. Contact with medical experts, including provision of case materials (usually electronically). Creation of medical records books according to firm protocol. Scheduling and coordinating client meetings. Maintaining calendars of all case events. Obtaining and organizing exhibits and documentation required throughout the case, including occasional trips to courts. Coordinating and conducting client and witness interviews. Obtaining background research on defendants, medical professionals and medical materials. Scheduling depositions, meetings and trial appearances, including scheduling of court reporters. Assistance with document preparation for court hearings, depositions, mediations and trials. Attending trials and depositions on occasion to provide technology support and other assistance. Maintaining regular contact with clients and potential clients, including responding to calls, both to obtain and convey information. Coordinating production, filing and service of case documents and pleadings. Contact with process servers and couriers. Occasional administrative assistance such as: Requesting and coordinating service calls for office equipment or other issues. Assistance with software setup and implementation. Assistance with ordering supplies. Welcoming visitors to the office and other hospitality. Mailing and filing checks and bills. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or comparable, with 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Lexis Advance, Westlaw, Time Matters or other time tracking software is required. Must have willingness to learn new software and technology applications. Ability to engage with all constituencies clients, vendors, coworkers, firm management, and attorneys is highly desired. Should have ability to complete time-sensitive tasks promptly and thoroughly without sacrificing attention to detail or focus on other projects or matters.
