Legal Secretary - Family Law The candidate will have significant client contact in person, by telephone and by e-mail. Will have intake of new clients, preparing engagement letters and handling retainers. Scheduling consultations, appointments, depositions, etc. Maintaining and updating attorney calendars. Routine telephone calls with clients, opposing counsel, court clerks, court reporters, etc. Opening and scanning mail. Preparing pleadings for court filing and service, including Bates stamping of exhibits. Preparing exhibit binders and hearing/trial binders for attorneys. Draft client correspondence and various pleadings. Perform administrative support functions, such as scanning documents, e-mailing documents to clients, maintaining client files, meeting with clients, etc.
The candidate should preferably have a Bachelor's Degree or a Paralegal Certificate. Must have 3+ years of family law experience. Must have sufficient knowledge of family law pleadings required for dissolution, paternity and restraining orders. Knowledge of family law rules of court and local rules and procedures for filing and lodging documents as well as filing deadlines needed. Working knowledge of Forms Work Flow essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Word needed.
