This is the Atlanta outpost of an international firm. Although this firm is international, it still has a decidedly regional feel to it, and it international only to service certain valued clients. Life is reasonably good in the Atlanta office, where there are attorneys capable of handling every measure of legal problem faced by companies or corporations. Although the litigators are able to become more specialized, corporate associates have a general practice, which ocassional spreads them (and their expertise) a bit thin. Lagging behind in compensation, this firm is dedicated to associate life issues, and has, as a result, a good deal of devoted associates.
Litigation Paralegal (Asbestos) Nelson Mullins is searching for a qualified Litigation Paralegal with 3+ years of litigation experience to work for a team of 3+ attorneys in their Atlanta office. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing both asbestos and securities litigation cases; case preparation from beginning to end; the ability to perform federal and state court filings; experience with trial preparation and trials; experience with document review software (Concordance, I-Pro, Eclipse); strong communication skills; the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, attorneys, and staff; the ability to self-manage and meet deadlines; and the ability to work overtime when needed. At Nelson Mullins, the Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for: * Maintaining and monitoring court deadlines for assigned cases and taking ownership of case calendars * Utilizing familiarity and ability to electronically file pleadings using state and federal electronic filing systems (PeachCourt, Odyssey eFileGA, FINRA DR Portal, PACER CM/ECF) * Preparing first drafts of legal correspondence, memorandums, pleadings, and discovery * Preparing deposition notices * Organizing, maintaining and preparing deposition materials, exhibits and summaries * Submitting and tracking responses to non-party requests and subpoenas for medical records and other documents * Analyzing medical records and preparing detailed chronologies of same * Analyzing arbitrator disclosure reports for FINRA matters and assist in preparation to detailed summary of same * Participating in case strategy meetings * Assisting with trial, mediation, and arbitration preparation * Handling routine calls and correspondence to outside attorneys, courthouse personnel, vendors, and clients * Handling large document reviews, both in person and electronically, generating and maintaining production logs, and organizing discovery * Preparing responsive documents for production by applying redactions and bates labels * Managing client databases and providing status reports to clients as needed Requirements: * BA/BS required. Paralegal certificate a plus. * Experience with e-filing within the Federal Courts, specifically with the U.S District Courts (and Georgia state courts). * Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw, and Lexis/Lexis Advance. * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). * Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively. * Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions. * Ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines. * Excellent teamwork skills and a strong client service orientation. * Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
