Taxation, Trust, and Estate Commercial Paralegal Duties: The candidate assists attorney(s) by providing clerical and researches support services including document preparation and review; research, investigations, and fact-checking. Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects. Assists in preparing, retaining, and organizing legal documents, agreements, pleadings and accountings related to trust and estate administration, real estate transactions, commercial transactions, tax files, and other business projects. Calls and works with government agencies to obtain tax and business information. Develops expertise in dealing with title insurance companies, government agencies, and financial institutions for real estate and commercial transactions. Reviews and organizes client financial and business information for presentation to IRS and state agencies. Prepares probate and administration proceedings, accounting proceedings (judicial and non-judicial) and other court filings. Completes tax forms (non-tax returns) with the assistance of clients and supervising attorneys. Assists with preparation for hearings before tax and other administrative agencies, including organizing files and preparing exhibits and filings. Tracks client files involving tax and administrative hearings. Follows up with clients and assists supervising attorneys to make sure that client files are timely addressed. Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases. Presents information effectively to lawyers and clients and responds to questions and performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: The candidate should preferably have a Paralegal Certificate with Tax and accounting-related experience and some related paralegal experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel, or related software.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with interpersonal and client relationship skills.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Willing to learn new areas of business, real estate, trust and estates, and tax law practice. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
