Litigation Paralegal The candidate will prepare and file key legal documents required for the Litigation process, and monitoring and maintenance of the ongoing Litigation cases. Use analytical and critical thinking skills when completing work. Work effectively with a variety of Firm members and clients. Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and legal codes. Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, responses, objections, and notices. Prepare, answer, and compile discovery documents. Retrieve, review and analyze documents provided by the client to ensure their accuracy in order to prepare the legal documents. Documents to be reviewed may include detailed client screen prints, loan documents, or account statements. Research for missing information and documents, and request from a client, if needed. Edit and revise documents as instructed by Attorney and Client. File legal documents using the court's required method. Maintain a calendar of pending hearing dates, times, and locations. Prepare Attorney for hearings and trials, receive hearing and trial results from Attorney and Court and communicate results to the client. Retrieve, review, and analyze specific dockets and all incoming mail received through the physical mail or through the Court's Electronic Case Filing system. Make Attorneys and/or clients aware of any situation(s) that may require attention. Communicate, negotiate settlements, and otherwise work with opposing counsel on matters. Perform investigations for identification and location of parties, file summonses with the court, choose process servers, maintain contact and specific instruction to process servers and private investigators. Subpoena and notify witnesses of trial. Draft witness outlines and lists. Create and compile trial documents, chronology or timeline notebook, trial notebook, and exhibit lists. Record all forms of communication from and to the Client by updating the Firm's internal case-management system, CaseMax. Accurately track and record billable hours into CaseMax. Image and label documents necessary for document preparation to the Firm's image center, PaperWise. Listen and share by providing regular, consistent, and meaningful information. Listen carefully to others and ensure the message is understood. Ensures important matters are shared with all appropriate parties. Communicate in a clear and concise manner. Using appropriate grammar, punctuation, and tone to enhance understanding and demonstrate professionalism through body language, including eye contact and posture. Tailor's communication style to the needs of the recipient. The candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and Legal experience or an Associate's Degree in Paralegal or related field; intermediate knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs; the ability to type speed is 45 WPM; strong data entry skills; the ability to recognize and regulate your emotions and behaviors in the workplace, while maintaining the ability to recognize others emotions and perspectives and take them into account; the ability to understand and effectively manage emotions to achieve a particularly positive outcome; demonstrate skills and knowledge relevant to one's own function or workgroup; current best practices and discipline over specialty areas; stay aware of major developments in the discipline or specialty area recognized by customers and team members for functional knowledge and skills; demonstrate a high level of dependability on all aspects of the job by showing commitment and accountability to one's work; arrive to work on time every day and is dedicated to following through on all projects, goals, and aspects of one's work within the timeframes necessary; decision making and reasoning: considers multiple sides of an issue; weigh consequences before making a final decision makes informed decisions based on available factual information; recognize issues, and determine actions needed to advance the decision making process; follow-up as necessary.
