Paralegal-Litigation The candidate electronically file simple and complex pleadings in Federal and State Courts. Preparation of Summonses and Civil Cover Sheets for initialing action in Federal Court; preparation of Summonses for initiating action in State Court. Familiarity of litigation support software and its use (e.g. Eclipse, Relativity) including review and coding of documents relating to discovery request and a basic understanding of privilege documents. Basic understanding of Appellate brief rules, formatting and preparation of citations to the record on appeal for appellate briefs. Maintain time entries with all billable time. Assist with drafting and editing pleadings, includes reviewing and answering complaints, counterclaims and third-party complaints, motions to dismiss or strike jurisdictional motions and research for pleadings. Maintain positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff observing confidentiality of client matters. Draft for electronic filing simple pleadings in State and Federal Court including: notices of deposition, notices of filing, pro hac vice motions, affidavits in support and basic orders. Should have Paralegal degree, paralegal certificate, 2+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, work experience and training in a law office setting.
