Workers' Compensation Paralegal The candidate will conduct research on relevant laws, regulations and articles. Organize and maintain documents in the physical file and in the firm's document Management software. Gather, maintain current and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Write reports to help attorneys prepare for trial. Obtain affidavits and other formal documents/statements that may be used as evidence in court. Assist lawyers during trials by handling exhibits, taking notes or reviewing trial transcripts. File exhibits, briefs, appeals and other legal documents (after lawyer has reviewed and approved) with the court or opposing council. Reach out to clients, witnesses, lawyers and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, or depositions. Associates Degree or higher required. Exceptional organization skills required. Excellent writing and communication skills required. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs required. Knowledge of legal terminology and principles required. Ability to analyze legal documents and ensure accuracy required. The candidate should be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently, with minimal supervision. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint required. E-filing knowledge in preparation to file all types of discovery requests, responses to opposing counsel, and motions required. Knowledge of legal documents and terminology required. Knowledge of billing required. Knowledge of investigating the facts of a case required.
