Legal Secretary/ Receptionist The candidate responsibilities include : Welcoming clients and guests by phone or in person; answering or directing inquiries to appropriate staff member. Drafting and typing various types of documents, including correspondence, pleadings, deeds, promissory notes, estate planning documents, and other such documents related to our practice area. Proofreading and redlining work for accuracy, format, grammar, and punctuation. Prepare e-filings and court pleadings in district and county courts. Must know court filing rules, procedures and calendaring requirements. Schedules/calendars appointments on MyCase such as client meetings, mediation, court hearings and appearances, etc. Handle incoming and outgoing mail. Open new files via hard files, our server directory and MyCase. Update all invoices on MyCase to reflect time and expense reports. Perform secretarial functions associated with firm administrative tasks, Perform any other administrative tasks as may be assigned. Must type at least 75 words per minute with accuracy. Should have thorough knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Should have excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation. Should have High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have 5 years of legal secretarial experience required. Specialized secretarial degree, associate and/or bachelor's degree desirable but not required. Should be reliable, driven and personable, with experience in one or more of the following areas of law: family law, real estate matters, estate planning, etc.
