Paralegal Assistant The candidate will be joining an estate planning and estate, and trust administration law firm to assist in a range of related works in the probate and estate planning field. Duties and responsibilities include, Prepare probate filings for Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia. Valuation of probate and non-probate assets. Prepare Inventories and Fiduciary Accounting for filing. Transfer of probate and non-probate assets. Making preparation, filing and distribution of Trust notices and documentation. Processing claims for life insurance and retirement benefits. General administrative duties such as file maintenance, schedule meetings and telephone conferences, and assist with Legal Assistant duties. Draft and revise standard estate planning legal documents. Communicate directly with clients on estate planning matters. Handle General administrative duties such as file maintenance, preparing correspondences, schedule meetings and telephone conferences, timekeeping and assist with probate matters as necessary in a small firm environment. Must have 3+ years of experience as a paralegal, law clerk on similar position in the area of trusts and estates. An affinity for numbers and math, excellent and demonstrable written and verbal communications skills as well as familiarity with tax returns generally, and estate tax returns in particular are required. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe, time entry software, and some estate and tax software including BNA, Quicken and CLIO experience is a plus. Have an ability to work with multiple attorneys in a small firm environment.
