Paralegal / Legal Assistant Litigation Responsibilities: support ane attorney on a daily basis and also be tasked with responsibilities related to the asbestos trial team projects which will require occasional support of other attorneys. Develop, organize, and maintain all documents (i.e., client and litigation files). Prepare draft case summaries, pleadings, and responses for attorney review. Proofread, and edit legal documents and client correspondence. Prepare deposition summaries, affidavits, witness disclosures, and exhibit lists. Manage calendars to ensure meeting all deadlines. File motions and pleadings with courts electronically. Prepare deposition notices and book court reporters/videographers. Organize and maintain Excel spreadsheets. Draft subpoenas, motions, and discovery (i.e., interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, etc.). Qualifications: Legal experience in litigation (preferably in personal injury or product liability). Ability to request employment records, Social Security records, and monitor files for return of documents from clients. Ability to retrieve case law and statutes from Westlaw and other legal databases upon request. Strong written and oral communication with experts, witnesses, and clients. Ability to type 70+ wpm. Strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Strong grammar and proofreading/editing skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience with a legal database program. Associates degree or Legal Assistant certification. Experience with a citation article management program (Example: EndNote). Will have a strong background in performing a wide variety of duties related to the preparation of legal documents such as legal correspondence, discovery responses, and compilation of exhibit lists with a strong attention to detail. requires being self-motivated, organized, and able to work under pressure while meeting deadlines. expected to use Microsoft Office and other software tools to create professional, complete, accurate, and detailed documents.
