Practice Development Attorney, Investment Management The candidate will: Play a substantive supporting role on active matters and use relevant legal and analytical skills to support existing client relationships, including by reviewing and analyzing transaction documents, relevant precedents and comparisons of key fund terms, preparing talking points and issues lists for client meetings and calls, taking notes during meetings and calls, assisting with document revisions based on client input and requests, and identifying, managing, and, where appropriate, delegating other follow-up action items. Review and analyze market trends and developments relating to private equity, investment management, and fund formation; gather and review applicable materials relating to such topics (including public filings and industry articles); become thoroughly familiar with the key issues and substantive points, develop concise and informative outlines and provide meaningful contributions during substantive discussions. Ensure that key clients requests are handled in a timely fashion, either by the partner, other members of the practice or, where appropriate, personally; assist with managing and meeting client deadlines, including by communicating timing expectations to attorneys and ensuring the timely distribution of requested deliverables. Develop thought leadership and knowledge management materials alongside members of the Funds practice, including substantive guides and summaries discussing industry trends and developments and the implications for clients; track and analyze the markets position with respect to key fund terms and ensure that negotiated changes are shared within the Funds group and incorporated into the firms model forms. Assist with the organization of internal client events; organize and manage external events with relevant industry groups (e.g., the International Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association; coordinate directly with external parties regarding planning and preparations for conferences and events that Company partners are participating in; work with other members of the practice to develop substantive content and materials for panels, seminars and other external presentations. Work with partners to strategically assemble pitch teams; coordinate and participate in pitch-preparation sessions, including by drafting appropriate talking points and ensuring the timely development of other pitch materials. Work with others to ensure excellent client service support when needed, including in such areas as billing and records management. Competence with relevant technology tools used by the Funds practice is required. A law degree and 3+ years of relevant experience in a law firm, professional services firm or other corporate environment is required. Knowledge of the private equity industry is preferred.
