Immigration Attorney The candidate will manage caseloads and learn from experienced attorneys who are passionate about immigration law and work with a talented team of legal assistants. Stay updated on changing applicable laws and statutes on the local, state, and federal levels. Perform quality legal work, and oversee entire matter files from case initiation, case strategy/planning, including regular status conferences with clients throughout the process until successful completion of the case. Meet with clients after they have hired the firm to determine case strategies based on their goals and the law. Assess eligibility for relief from removal proceedings, and represents detained and non-detained clients in removal proceedings in Immigration Court. Represent clients at USCIS interviews. Prepare case strategy and clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony. Oversight of court hearings and USCIS interviews. Draft, review, and file appropriate court pleadings including legal motions, petitions, and briefs; prepare appropriate immigration applications. Participate in training and works closely with staff to draft and implement program protocols, workflow processes, and case-related policies and procedures. Responsible for legal operations consistent with the firm's mission and principles while playing a key role in managing client relationships. Oversee activities and production of the legal team while also working closely with the administrative team. Communicate with third parties, courts, and opposing counsel, delegating to Legal Team when appropriate. Anticipate issues and potential for new business with existing clients; networks as strategized with Firm Owner. Participate in monthly meetings with assigned support staff to collaborate on case strategy and determine case statuses. Report case statuses on a monthly basis to the Firm Owner. Provide excellent customer service while building client rapport and trust. The candidate must have a four-year bachelor's degree and successful completion of law school from an accredited law school; superior academic credentials including a J.D. degree from a U.S. accredited law school, membership in a state bar, excellent computer skills, and 3 years of experience in Immigration and Nationality law; superior writing skills; exceptional time management and interpersonal skills are desired, as are exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; prior experience representing clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration. Must be able to work independently while handling multiple files. Literate in a second language is welcomed.
